OTCA Winter Solstice Concert Features Music and Aerial Dance The 3rd Annual Old Town Center for the Arts Winter Solstice Concert will feature some of the world’s favorite Christmas melodies, an aerial dance performance, and a special visual, musical tribute to the last existing tribes on earth, in observation of the ancient winter solstice ritual. For this special event, OTCA Co-Director William Eaton will be joined by electric violinist Carrie Caruso, bass-harp guitarist Bart Applewhite and musician-aerialist Ty Eaton. The trio of Caruso, Applewhite and Eaton will present their eclectic arrangements of iconic holiday classics, such as: Coventry Carol, What Child Is This, God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman and others, along with some of their original shape shifting improvs. Following her riveting aerial dance performance at Old Town Center for the Arts in October, Ty will present a special aerial dance performance, choreographed to several holiday classics. Ty recently performed in a special aerial conference in New Mexico in November, and the Frequent Flyers Festival in Boulder last August. Carrie Caruso is most well known for her work with Urban Electra, one of America’s foremost electric string quartets. Check out this eye catching video of Urban Electra on youtube. Carrie brings her cutting edge violin style, rhythmic drive, and arranging skills to this concert. Bart Applewhite toured nationally with Congo Shock prior to returning to Phoenix, Arizona to learn guitar building at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. Taking it to the next level, Bart began designing bass guitars with added harp-bass strings. Bart will add his eclectic bass playing and percussion for the Winter Solstice Concert. William Eaton is a four time GRAMMY nominee and records with Canyon Records. He is known for designing, building and playing one-of-a-kind exotic stringed instruments. Eaton is the Director of Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, a guitar making school that he helped start in 1975. |
